Rocky Anderson

So much for stereotypes! Apparently one can be an elected official in Utah without being a reactionary Mormon. Meet Carl Ross Rocky Anderson, former mayor of Salt Lake City and candidate for President of the United States, running on the newly formed Justice Party ticket. His views align consistently with the editorial board here at — as do Jill Stein’s, of the Green Party. We like that Anderson has actually worked in the political industry, understanding its inherent dirtiness, and yet he manages to promulgate ideas — marijuana legalization, nationalized healthcare, the end to corporate welfare — that lesser characters would consider “political suicide.” For his clarity of vision, the braveness of his iconoclasm, and the inherent kindness of his outlook, Rocky Anderson has earned the vote on November 6, 2012.

  1. Thank you for the kind words and support, Michael! Let’s all join together in a sustained people’s democratic movement for an end to corruption of our government and electoral system, wars of aggression, empire-building, toadying to Wall St., threats to social and economic safety nets, denial of single-payer Medicare-for-all, and the imperial presidency and the shredding of our Constitution. No matter how the election turns out, let us all be engaged citizens and assume the leadership for change. We’ll make Congress and the President follow!
