Why I Died
The solo performer Katie Rubin works in the theatrical comedy tradition of Lily Tomlin and Whoopi Goldberg, portraying multiple characters, often at the same time, in the same scene. In her new show, “Why I Died,” playing through November 23 in Hollywood’s Hudson Theater, Rubin applies her considerable acting chops to a confessional memoir of spiritual searching. (Don’t worry, it’s very funny.) In the course of being entertained, audiences get an introduction to the basics of Sufism and, thanks to Rubin’s sympathetic energy, a living reminder that all is well, even when it’s not.
